MBBR BIO Media is een verbeterde versie van vaste membraanbioreactor, vergelijkbaar met SAFF (oppervlakte -vaste membraantechnologie (SAFF) of roterende bioreactor (RBC), behalve dat de MBBR -drager medium float met rioolwater/rioolwater gebruikt.
MBBR bio media reactor consists of a storage tank filled with immersed plastic (usually HDPE, polyethylene or polypropylene) medium with a specific gravity less than 1.0. The large surface area of plastic provides sufficient surface for the growth of bacteria. Biomass grows on the surface in the form of a thin film, and its thickness is usually between 50-300 microns. Each individual biological carrier increases productivity by providing a protected surface area to support the growth of heterotrophic and autotrophic bacteria within its cells. It is this high-density bacterial population that achieves high-speed biodegradation in the system, while also providing process reliability and ease of operation. The medium or coarse bubble diffuser placed uniformly at the bottom of the reactor maintains the dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration>2. {5-3 mg/l om bod te verwijderen. Voor nitrificatie wordt nog steeds een hoge opgeloste zuurstofconcentratie gehandhaafd. Om het medium uit de tank te houden, wordt een zeef op de stroomafwaartse muur geïnstalleerd. Een verduidelijker of DAF wordt stroomafwaarts van de filtermbbrank geplaatst om de biomassa en vaste stoffen van het afvalwater te scheiden. Dit proces vereist geen slibherstel.
